Internal combustion was never a lure, but bicycles have been a constant. I have always cycled, cycling is the thing I enjoy doing the most – a bicycle took me to the “middle of nowhere”……teenage parties in the early eighties, and more recently to the highest peaks in the French Alps. In between there has been twenty years of training, racing, commuting and something I call “essential pottering”. Along the way have been a handful of crashes – nothing too serious, and certainly no broken bones, just stitches and bent wheels.
My experience of club cycling has proved broadly positive; therefore the idea to form a cycling club made perfect sense. The intention is straightforward – to provide year long organised riding for all levels, from outright novice through to Elite level two wheeled athletes. Those aspiring to nothing more than a leisurely and flat fifteen miles will be as welcome as those intent on busting a lung on the climbs that litter the Mendips and Quantocks.
Regular weekend rides have already commenced…rest assured you will be made more than welcome. See you soon!
